'African Pigmy King Fisher', 2015
by Craig Peterson
Coffee, Watercolour, Pen
58 x 48 cm
I hand stained paper with coffee to create a unique background for my painting. After I layered up the coffee stains I drew my subject which is an African Pigmy Kingfisher. I painted the bird using watercolour and added detail to the piece with pen. I chose the kingfisher as my subject because after doing some research I found that the kingfisher is one bird that is benefiting from a new coffee growing technique called shade coffee.
