Ink on Paper
Empty is part of a collection of works representing the regular need of comfort behind a cup of coffee. Inspired by the residue of coffee granules on the bottom of a white coffee mug, Empty comes with the intention of making the drinker feel “Empty” to feel hollow, to resemble both the isolating emotion of always wanting more and that sweet atmospheric world of a coffee shop.
Through the use of Indian Ink, I manipulate it’s textures to create a relatable yet abstract form and encourage the public to look around the painting, the bigger picture and feel cold- feel the emptiness of an empty coffee cup.
