"Tanzanian Boy", Su Ekin Demir, 2015
Ink and watercolour on canvas
60cm x 80cm
When we sit in a café, drink our coffee, we don’t think about how it is produced. Most of the Tanzanian population work as coffee farmers in very poor life conditions. In the last year around 20,000 children died in Tanzania due to lack of clean water. This fact touched me very deeply and inspired me to paint a Tanzanian boy’s portrait. A portrait is emotional; it tells us so much by simple facial expressions.
